A celebration of light - Diwali at Sunda | 29 Oct - 2 Nov

Diwali, or Deepavali, is one of the events celebrated in our region, and this year, we are bringing this Festival of Light to Sunda.

 

We invite you to come and gather, with friends and family over a vibrant shared dinner of $79 or $110.

 

Both feature a lush, rich kashmiri curry main of slow cooked goat* and cashew, cumin basmati rice, crispy chickpea and a black lentil dal. A vegetarian menu is also available.

 

The $110 menu comes with a snack grazing platter to start, and a scented rice pudding with saffron ice cream and caramelised pudding to finish.

Private Dining

Sunda is housed across two levels – the lower with a view into the action of the open kitchen, and the upper with soaring ceilings and floor to ceiling glass.

 

Both the upper and lower levels can be hired out for private dining, celebrations and business lunches – served as sit-down tasting menus with optional beverage pairing from a curated wine list.

 

Dietary requirements are welcome with advance notice.

About

Set down a Melbourne laneway, in a glowing ‘box’ of timber, steel mesh and brick inspired by lanterns, Sunda is Head Chef Nabil Ansari’s interpretation of the bold, brilliant flavours of Southeast Asia.

 

Elements of traditional cooking and dishes familiar to the Southeast Asian diaspora are re-spun and masterfully imbued with a refreshing, uplifting, modern take. Sambals and curry pastes crafted from scratch – slow-cooked and slow-roasted to draw out the flavours of the herbs and spices – and dishes finished over charcoal or smoked in banana leaves.

 

Playful yet sophisticated, Sunda is a reflection of the archipelago it is named after, and the heritage of the chefs who work there.
